>the musical styles on moon harbour inhouse vol. 4< range from the deep house of luna city express and ekkohaus to the reduced groovy tech house á la tini & marc antona, andy catana and boris werner and the floor fillers by reboot and dan drastic. in this sense the selection of tracks mirrors the current breadth of styles represented by the label in its 12th year. since the third inhouse compilation, a lot has happened at moon harbour. in addition to the releases of the albums hello from planet earth by luna city express (2009) and paradigm shift by martinez (2010), the tenth anniversary of the label was celebrated with gusto in 2010 complete with the compilation and club tour, ten years of moon harbour. the year 2010 also marked the birth of the monthly moon harbour radio show. luna city express and dan drastic have been taking turns producing this show, which has already had more than 25 editions.

we are very proud and honered to release this ep by function aka dave sumner from sandwell district. one of technos true underground heroes, function (dave sumner) has been djing and making music for over 15 years. hailing from new york, he was seduced by techno music when jeff mills held a residency (as well as his own first) at the limelight in the early 90s. dave started to produce music and from the mid-90s onwards, put out music on damon wilds synewave and his own infrastructure imprint. together with regis (karl o connor) he worked as portion reform, putting out uncompromising music on downwards and becoming the only non-birmingham producer to release on the label. in 2008 dave moved to berlin, still working with regis, and now silent servant (john mendez), put his focus on the acclaimed sandwell district imprint. obsessed is a supper powerfull floating track for the dancefloor, a typical function production. this ep also contains remixes from substance and scb aka scuba, both peak-time tracks.

thinking too much/where the helios is juk juks second release on nommos. thinking too much is the most direct juk juk release so far. its peak time fare, aimed squarely at the dancefloor. the dreamy intro will fool the unsuspecting, sucking them in and propelling them on a tripped out ride on a techno ghost train, buffered by a cushion of warm throbbing bass. where the helios is the real dream side. a floating, hallucinogenic, spaced out drift, driven by a crisp, pared back rhythm and a gorgeous, woozy vocal- led melody. juk juks first release for nommos was unwrap/fall and before that his debut, winter turn spring/frozen, was put out by kieran (four tet) hebden on his highly regarded text label. all juk juks output to date has been critically acclaimed, coverage including fact magazine, pitchfork, mix mag, abeano, the fader amongst others. his releases have also received significant club and radio plays including mainstream radio 1 support from admirers giles peterson and rob da bank, who has promised support for this release. four tet said the room went off when playing thinking too much at a recent event.

ander-traxx is a fresh label operating out of glasgow with the intent of releasing righteous underground house, and although mainly a platform for the labels founder alex-ander to showcase his own productions, ander-traxxs remit also includes the presentation of unknown talent for future releases. for this first release, alex steps up to the plate to deliver because of me, followed by 3 remixes from artists born and raised in glasgow. the original kicks things off with its intro of glacial pads and jittery hats, before quickly delving into a seriousely deep groove brimming with melodic layers. although because of me gives a strong nod to the recent developements of producers like omar s and kyle hall, it undoubtedly has the hallmarks of an alex-ander production, his unique arrangements coming to the forefront while still complimenting the crisp percussion that drives the track forward. carlos nilmmns (co founder of the formidable solab production unit) mix is a much more off-kilter and submerged affair. nilmmns plays down the epic quality of the original and adds chugging rhythmics and sweetcured piano work for a lesson in divine repetition. mesumas feedback mix goes in for the dancefloor attack, not surprising for a gentleman whos previous work has seen releases on hardgroove and seventh sign. rolling toms and a booming kick meet aquatic vocal samples and spectral harmonicas, and will still please those partial to deeper sounds. last up to give because of me the rework treatment is meschi (lunar disko, lux, snuff traxx), who mixes his chicago influenced analogue stylings perfectly with the source material. stripped down crescendos build up to a euphoric drop, and meschis elated melodies bring another twist to this excercise in deep funk. because of me is one of those rare e.ps that works just as well in a non-club enviroment as it does on the dancefloor. with this warning shot, alex-ander will surely be capturing the ears of many in 2012 and beyond.

after their first hello on the 6 years hive compilation adriatique is back on hive audio with a full ep. the swiss- based duo recently released some remarkable pieces of music in the last months with amzing feedbacks and chart-postitions. the aint nobody ep shows a few typical adriatique sounds but has a darker touch. the original a-side is filled with some old school housebeats paired with heavy synth work, deep vocals & a rolling bassline which makes this track work for every time of the night or morning. atapys remix of aint nobody goes into the same direction but delivers his very own interpretation. he put on the atapy stamp through his characteristic synthmelodies. then we have another original track from adriatique. mind games is a heavy dance floor track with lots of content. pretty much electronic with melodies and spoken vocals which really put mind games on the map. overall all tracks are made for the club and will achieve their goal. dancing not only with the body but also with the soul.

with >dazed<, senking continues his exploration of the abysses of sound to create dark and gloomy atmospheres. the slow beats of the two tracks are accompanied by tender, harmonic melodies, but broken by nervous, unsteady tones which seem to be a warning against hidden dangers. the first track >the dance hall walk< also features a vocal sample by micheal cramm - a text which reflects the nervousness and excitement in anticipation of some thrilling things to come. like >tweek<, senkings last ep, >dazed< is not only concerned with the depths of sound, but also with the depths of the human psyche, where there is no escape other than music itself.

i am a pianist, composer, improviser, performing artist and a multitasking musician in life, currently living and working in reykjavik. i was born 1978 in seydisfjördur, iceland and have been playing the piano and keyboards since age of 9. my main focus and interest is in improvisation, composition and performance of music. how improvisation and composition can meet effortlessly as a creation of musical ideas and sounds. i am also thoughtful of the general passion & drive behind creation of things, in what way they are presented and passed on to people, in music, arts and life in general. since childhood i ve collaborated with a whole spectrum of artist, from obscure troubadours in the countryside to stadium bands, covering all fields og music, both in iceland and abroad. i have also composed and arranged a great deal of music for theater, film, art installations, performances and videos of all kinds. released my first album rask in 2002, and now i am currently composing and working on a series of records with solo piano music for radio bongo with improvised piano works i (broadcast01) as the first radio bongo release.

joker has been riding a rocket propelled trajectory with an exponential rise in popularity since he first caught the attention of underground djs and bloggers alike, back in 2007. signed to major player 4ad for his debut lp >the vision<, dropping late last year joker has won the hearts and minds of both respected underground players and pop-loving youth alike. here he returns to his home imprint for a rare excursion away from 4ad with the monstrous, infectious fresh cut rhythm that is our lead track >skitta<. you know it must be a big lead if when you flip for the aa side and find the almighty newham generals featuring in secondary place! >i think you should know< sees footsie and d double roll out a shoulder popping beat in fine style while fans of all things instrumental can also enjoy an extended instrumental version of the same track. huge release all round.

as is generally known, the night is not limited to the time dimension but has also a spatial dimension. the darker the night, the more artificial is the light and the more the even apparently well known places become unreal. patrick pulsinger resorts to such dusk-to-dawn places by using his three excellent tracks of his new release >nocturnalcat<. or to tell it better: he makes us streying.

played and supported by chris liebing, speedy j, samuli kemppi, alan fitzpatrick, giorgio gigli, par grindvik, dvs1, jonas kopp, markus suckut, truncate, pfirter, lucy, developer and more. informa004 is by friends of the label ness (prologue, synewave) and rasmus hedlund (resopal schallware, mono records) who have collaborated to make two extraordinary tracks for us. punto kokous and verso pohjois which have a mixed italian and finnish translation of meeting point and direction north. both tracks are focused on deep atmospheric techno, with dark haunting atmospheres. everything informa records stands for. their concept for the release was simply to exchange sounds and influence with each other and in doing so they created something very special. also on the release we have a momentous remix from edit select (electric deluxe, stroboscopic artefacts) and a deep brooding remix by label boss deepbass.

kostbar musik welcomes ataneus! great groovy tech-house tune including a cosmic cowboys remix!in 2002 ataneus made his debut as a dj in club blade (sofia) with the support of dj da red guy. in 2003 ataneus, chester and laylla dane started intelligente nights – a night dedicated to the italian techno groove from naples. during the next couple of years ataneus played at many clubs and on lots of big parties with artists like carl cox, thomas schumacher, henrik b, lori hi-fi princess to name a few. currently ataneus is studying sound engineering and work on his own productions. his first serious tracks and remixes came out on labels like ostwind, ackerdub, subotnik, chocolate ltd, kolokoland etc. from 2010 he is running also the only vinyl label render obedience recordings.

for some time now the bar25 label has wanted to put out a release with all of our swiss musician friends – the many folks who came to the swiss weekends at the bar and generally made a habit of visiting us in berlin. the bar always had a deep swiss connection, manifested not least in the legendary swiss cabin, home away from home to larger groups of visiting friends and monday evening after-hour hotspot. alpenglühen – feines aus der schweiz (alp glow – swiss bliss) is a swanky double vinyl of high-quality production art made in switzerland. on vinyl 1, animal trainer from hive audio share a side with andri, the zurich native. techno gladiator wandler and live artist canson play the other side, while vinyl 2 lets two matadors from the new zurich club friedas büxe – don ramon and san marco – steer for a while. and the two music geniuses from galoppierende zuversicht are also here, fittingly, using sounds recorded live at friedas büxe for their track. the sampler concludes with the exceptionally talented mastra, who contributed a special song to this swiss musical collage. the digital release also comes with a bonus live track by sublime stage band rizzoknor. even the cover was designed in switzerland, during a bar25 night at the legendary cabaret in zurich. were all excited about this release since its a special one for the 25 label. marked both by good old times and new horizons, this record is a musical compilation representing the very special kind of artist that will always be welcome in wild berlin!
